Back from Adventure with Exciting Updates!

Hey Reader

It feels like forever since I've checked in! I know, I know, Iโ€™ve been MIA and for that, I apologize. Life happens, right?

Between a crazy busy spring and a little unexpected health hiccup with one of the dogs I was looking after in April & May, things got a bit hectic.

But I'm back, refreshed, and ready to share some exciting updates!

Cape Breton Adventure:

Cape Breton was a whirlwind of emotions! ๐ŸŒช๏ธ From the thrill of finding hidden gems like that incredible, accessible trail we didn't plan on doing to the disappointment of missing the Skyline Trail due to foggy and rainy conditions, it was an adventure to remember.

The Cabot Trail lived up to the hype, even in the rain. ๐ŸŒง๏ธ Can't wait to share more about this incredible island with you all! This 7-day camping trip is taking some time to unpack (pun intended).

New Blog Format

I'm pumped to announce a fresh look for my blog! I know, another change, but I'm always striving to bring you the best possible content. ๐ŸŽ‰

Get ready to dive deep into your favourite Nova Scotian spots! Each post will now focus on one incredible location, packed with insider tips, stunning photos, and personal stories.

Iโ€™ve already kicked things off with Webber Lake Falls, Blomidon Provincial Park, and the Annapolis Royal Historic Gardens. As always check back for more adventures!

While I'll be focusing on individual locations, I'll also share multi-destination trips, like my upcoming Northumberland Shore adventure. You'll get the full scoop on the good, the bad, and the ugly (well, maybe not ugly).

Emergency Services Memorial:

I'm incredibly proud to have been involved in a truly special project. The unveiling of the Emergency Services Memorial was a powerful moment, honouring those who dedicate their lives to protecting our communities and country. It's a place of solace and reflection, especially for those who've experienced the challenges of PTSD.

My dad's passion for this project has been inspiring. The mosaic window is a stunning tribute to their service. If you ever find yourself in the area, I encourage you to visit the memorial. It's a place of peace and healing.

You can find it near 484 Shore Road, Ogilvie on the North Mountain overlooking the Bay of Fundy. Please do not park in the driveway but find your way to a gravel path just down the road from it, you can park on the road here walk up the path and hill and head straight to the gazebo.

Please sign the guestbook and take your time to admire the hard work done by many involved in this project on behalf of honouring our essential service workers.

**Note that there are two Bernese Mountain Dogs that live on the property and may come over to say hello. They are friendly but are big and may jump.

(I have approximated where the gravel path is here on google maps)

Ian Swinamer captured the event beautifully, and you can watch the video here.

Let's take a moment to appreciate the sacrifices made by our emergency service personnel.

Canada Day Disappointment

I was really looking forward to sharing the Canada Day fun with the Burlington community. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, the event had to be cancelled. While it was disappointing to see all that hard work go to waste, I'm already brainstorming ideas for next year.

Supporting local events is crucial for building strong communities. Let's come together and make next year's Canada Day celebration even bigger and better!

Summer Activities and Local Businesses:

Let's start with the heart of summer - farmers markets! Supporting local businesses is so important, and farmers' markets are the perfect place to do it. From fresh produce to handcrafted goods, there's something for everyone.

Check out the Farmers' Market of Nova Scotia website to find a market near you.

Museums are another great way to spend a rainy day or learn something new. Nova Scotia boasts a rich history, and there's a museum for every interest.

I recently visited the Nicholas Denys Museum in St. Peter's, which was fascinating! Plus, many museums like this one offer free or by-donation admission, making them budget-friendly. I always suggest when you can donate at least $5 to help keep these anchors of our past available to generations to come.

Summer Festivals: A Nova Scotian Celebration:

Summer is in full swing, and Nova Scotia is buzzing with excitement! From vibrant music festivals to family-friendly events, there's something for everyone.

Don't miss out on the Halifax Busker Festival, where talented performers from around the world showcase their skills. This runs from Wednesday July 31 to Monday August 5 covering the Natal Day long weekend.

And as we head into the heart of summer, keep an eye out for local community festivals and celebrations in whatever area you find yourself in.

To discover even more summer fun, check out the Nova Scotia tourism website's dedicated festival and events page.
