Escape the Crowds & Find Foodie Bliss: Nova Scotia's Spring Gems!

Hey Reader

Guess what? It’s newsletter time again! This month, we’re dishing on Nova Scotia’s yummy secrets – beyond the lobster rolls (we tried one at Rudders Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub, and whoa, it’s good, but pricey!). We’re also sharing some hidden waterfall adventures I had this month!

Spring is here, and Nova Scotia is bursting with life! Flowers are blooming everywhere, baby animals are popping out to say hi, and puffins are coming back to the coast – it’s like a giant, happy party!

Food Fun!

This month, let’s skip the super-famous lobster rolls for a sec (don’t worry, they’ll always be there!) and explore some Nova Scotia classics!

First up, Donairs! Did you know this deliciousness was invented right here in Halifax? It’s a must-try – a pita filled with juicy meat, veggies, and a sweet sauce that’s sooo good.

Next, let’s talk chowder – Nova Scotia’s got some seriously amazing seafood chowders. I tried two this month: one from Acadian Fish and Chips, and another from Rudders Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub (the same place with the fancy lobster roll). Guess what?

The Acadian Fish and Chips chowder totally won! Speaking of Rudders, though, they’re actually a microbrewery too! So, if you’re looking for some yummy local beers after your chowder adventure, Rudders is a great spot to check out.

Waterfall Wanderings!

Nova Scotia’s got some seriously stunning waterfalls, but some of the coolest ones are hidden away in secret spots, just waiting to be discovered! This month, I spent a bunch of time exploring these hidden gems, and let me tell you, it was magical!

These waterfalls are like nature’s secret playgrounds. Some are easy to find with a short walk, while others might take a bit more exploring (perfect for our inner adventurers!).

Many waterfalls have pools at the bottom, perfect for cooling off on a hot day (just remember to be safe around water!). Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the peacefulness of the falls – it’s like listening to nature’s symphony!

Here are the ones I tackled in March & April:
