Fall Events + Your Favorite Spots

Hey you,

Happy October! Fall is officially here, and I hope you're gearing up for some autumn fun. 🍂 The leaves are changing, the air's crisp, and there's plenty to explore. But first—let's dive into some exciting updates.

Where to Find the Best Fall Colours 🍁

Have you been leaf-peeping yet? I know I’ve been making regular trips to Riverside Park in Middleton, trying to catch those maple trees at their peak.

It’s been absolutely amazing watching their progression—and I’ve still got my fingers crossed for that perfect weekend.

What about you? What are your favourite spots to catch the fall colours?

Hit reply and let me know, or share your recommendations in the Facebook group! Let’s build a little local leaf-peeping community. 😊

If you need inspiration, here’s a reminder of some top places from last month’s newsletter. Have you made it to any of these spots yet? How was your experience?

  • Cabot Trail
  • Annapolis Valley (North and South Mountains)
  • Wentworth Ski-Lift
  • Kejimkujik National Park

We’d love to hear your thoughts and any new discoveries in your area!

Introducing: The Monthly Challenge 🍂

I’m also excited to announce a brand-new monthly challenge! For October, it’s all about fall favourites—like those Pumpkin People displays and the Scarecrow Festival (details below).

You can snap a photo of your favourite local fall event or autumn spot and share it in the Facebook group.

This will not only be a fun way to get involved, but you could also win a special prize!

The more you participate, the more entries you’ll earn (with a limit of one entry per week). I’ll pick one lucky winner at the end of the month.

So, start snapping those pics and show us how you're embracing the fall season where you live!

Festivals & Events

You won’t want to miss these fun fall happenings:

  • Pumpkin People in Kentville (October 5-27): If you’re in the area, definitely check this out or make a day trip out of it on your next day off. And don’t forget to share any Pumpkin People displays from near you!
  • Scarecrow Festival, Mahone Bay (September 28 - October 14): A South Shore favourite—get in on this while you still can! The creative scarecrow displays are always a hit.
  • Corn Mazes: Both Riverbreeze Farm near Truro (weekends started September 21) and Noggins Corn Maze (September 14 - October 31) are perfect fall adventures for all ages. They even offer a haunted maze for those who love a little fright.
  • Farmers Markets: Support local by hitting up your nearby farmers markets! Many still have fresh produce, and artisans are beginning to show off their holiday goodies, so it’s a great time for gift shopping too.

Feel free to share any local events happening in your area with me directly, and I’ll help spread the word.

Or you can post straight to the Facebook group and let everyone know about your fall finds and adventures!

Reminder: Festival of Colours & Craft Fairs 🎨

The Festival of Colours in Cape Breton is another must-do, and it’s happening October 11-19.

If you haven’t made plans yet, there’s still time to enjoy the vibrant autumn landscapes and classic Gaelic culture in mid-October.

Craft fair season is also starting up, so keep an eye out for local fairs on Facebook. Some to check out:

There are plenty more coming up in November, so keep an eye out on Facebook events or better yet take a look at local community boards and get supporting local this year.

Coming Soon: Games & Souvenirs for Your Travels!

I’m also working on some new game books, souvenir prints & postcards, colouring books and more that’ll make exploring Nova Scotia even more fun.

Keep an eye out for these—perfect for making your future adventures memorable! (I plan on debuting at the Craft & Vendor Sale on November 23 which is supporting the local girl guiding units)

Looking Forward to Your Fall Fun!

I can’t wait to hear about all the beautiful spots you’ve been visiting. Whether it's a colourful forest, a local event, or your favourite pumpkin display, let’s make this October one to remember.

Don’t forget to join in on the monthly challenge—it’s a fun way to stay connected and maybe win a little something! 🍂

Until next time, Nancy 😊
