I hope you're having a wonderful summer.

Lately, one of my favourite adventures has been swimming lessons with Niklaus.

The first class felt a little uncertain. Everything was new for both of us. But each week he's become a little more comfortable. Now he splashes, reaches for toys, and watches everything around him with wide-eyed curiosity.

It's been a joy to watch.

As I sat beside the pool one day, it struck me how naturally children approach the world. Everything is worth exploring. They don't need a spectacular destination or an elaborate plan. They're perfectly happy discovering what the rest of us walk right past.

Somewhere along the way, many of us lose a little of that.

We start believing adventure has to be big. That we need more time, more money, or somewhere extraordinary before we can experience that sense of wonder again.

The more I travel around Nova Scotia, the more I believe the opposite is true.

Some of my favourite memories haven't come from famous destinations. They've come from taking a different road home, wandering through a forgotten museum, discovering a roadside garden, or chatting with someone at a local market.

Adventure isn't something we find.

It's something we notice.

That simple idea has quietly shaped the direction of Rediscover Nova Scotia over the past few months.

Since we last caught up, it's been a full summer. I've attended four local markets as a vendor, explored new corners of the province, wandered through festivals and museums, started planning the 2027 calendar, and spent countless hours creating new resources and writing.

As everything came together, I realized there was a simple thread connecting it all.

Whether I'm sharing a hidden gem, a creative activity, or a way to preserve a favourite memory, the goal is always the same:

To help you discover more adventure in everyday life.

That realization inspired a new way of organizing Rediscover Nova Scotia.

Over the next few months, I'll introduce five adventure themes that reflect the heart of this community. Each month, we'll explore one together.

This month, we're beginning with Adventure Sparks.

Adventure Sparks is all about finding simple ways to bring more curiosity, wonder, and play into ordinary days.
